Take me there - Quickie review

Available now
What's it about?
Dylan has a bad-boy past and a criminal record. He knows that rich, beautiful Jess is way too good for him—but she has always been the one person who sees through his tough exterior and straight to his heart, and he has been hopelessly in love with her from the first time they met. He would change his life for a chance with her.
But trouble follows Dylan wherever he goes, and a deadly mistake soon forces him to hit the road and leave his dreams behind. He’s on the run and in search of answers—answers to questions he wishes he’d never asked.
My review
Take me there was a brilliant, emotional novel. I admit I was expecting something with a bit more romance and was slightly disappointed that that wasn't the case but I still enjoyed taking Dylan's journey with him, finding out his family secrets and seeing him fall in love with Jess. It was really well written and I liked the bits of poetry scattered between chapters, I'm not really one for poetry but Dylan made it ingteresting and I loved the way it overtook him, like he had no choice.
Its not all happy times and there are some sad moments in the book, Dylan faces tough choices, finds out some harsh truths and generally has a bumpy ride throughout. He was a great character, he just wants so badly to be a good person, and deep down he is but he also struggles with who he is and maybe he's just destined to be bad and do bad things.
I'd recommend this book to anyone into the YA contemporary genre and I'm now off to investigate other books by the author.
